If Game of Thrones Characters Were Alcoholic Beverages

In the iconic words of Tyrion Lannister, “That’s what I do. I drink and I know things.” At 4EG, we tend to do both of those things. If you’re looking to celebrate this Sunday’s Game of Thrones series finale in true Lannister fashion, you’ll need a drink in hand. We’ve compiled a list of our favorite Game of Thrones characters and paired them with a craft cocktail from one of our eleven Cincinnati bars. Which character best represents you?

Jon Snow – In Old Bluegrass Fashion, Hightail

The King in the North deserves a classic beverage. Made with Woodford Bourbon, In Old Bluegrass Fashion is an honorable, humble, and powerful cocktail, all of which embody the White Wolf’s spirit. After all, the Old Fashioned is the king of all cocktails, and if we have any say in who is going to end up on the Iron Throne, Jon Snow will be sitting at the top.

Daenerys Targaryen – Red Hot, The Righteous Room

After last week’s episode, it’s no surprise that Daenerys Stormborn of House Targaryen, the First of Her Name, Queen of the Andals and the First Men, Protector of the Seven Kingdoms, the Mother of Dragons, the Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, the Unburnt, the Breaker of Chains, is coming in hot with The Righteous Room’s Red Hot cocktail. The jalapeño-infused tequila cocktail, with raspberry simple syrup, fresh lime juice, Bitter Truth Violet Liqueur, hellfire bitters and a chocolate-covered raspberry garnish, highlights Dany’s fiery spirit and nods to her former charm.

Cersei Lannister – Prince’s Kiss, Igby’s

When you play the game of thrones, you win or you die. And this cocktail is to die for. The Mother of Madness gets Igby’s Prince’s Kiss cocktail, filled with La Marca Prosecco, St. Germain, and a blood red flower. This cocktail is crazy beautiful, which perfectly parallels Cersei’s character on Game of Thrones.

Tyrion Lannister – Queen’s Peak Cabernet Sauvignon, Igby’s

We know, it’s not a cocktail, but Igbys’ Queen’s Peak Cabernet Sauvignon matches Tyrion’s prominence and strength as the Hand of Queen Daenerys. If we could see into the future, Tyrion will die at eighty years old with a belly full of Queen’s Peak Cabernet.

Arya Stark – Tequila Me Softly, Hightail

As one of the deadliest characters on the show, Arya Stark perfectly embodies Hightail’s Tequila Me Softly. Made with El Jimador tequila, the cocktail says it all in the name.

Bran Stark – The Historian, The Roosevelt Room

Bran’s greensight powers give him the honor of representing The Historian at The Roosevelt Room. Made with Ketel One Botanical Grapefruit and Rose Vodka, Aperol Aperitivo, bitters, and Champagne, this extraordinary cocktail will have you seeing visions of who ends up on the Iron Throne.

Sansa Stark – Lemon Meringue, The Righteous Room

It’s no secret that Sansa Stark loves lemon cake, so The Righteous Room’s Lemon Meringue cocktail would be right up her alley! This sweet cocktail, made from Smirnoff Whipped Cream Vodka, heavy cream, limoncello, fresh lemon juice, and a lemon zest garnish, will have you drinking like an upper-class nobleperson in the Seven Kingdoms.

Margaery Tyrell – Smoky Marg, Rosedale OTR

There’s no better drink for Margaery Tyrell than the Smoky Marg… quite literally, since she burned in the Sept of Baelor. Head over to Rosedale for a patio pitcher of the Smoky Marg, made with El Jimador Blanco Tequila, Mezcal, lemon-lime juice, and agave nectar.

House Tyrell – Crown of Thorns, Igby’s

Igbys’ signature cocktail, Crown of Thorns, doesn’t just exemplify one character on HBO’s Game of Thrones, but the entirety of House Tyrell. An ode to the house’s sigil, the Crown of Thorns represents a golden rose in its color and title.

Sandor Clegane (The Hound) – Rough Rider, The Roosevelt Room

No better cocktail describes The Hound than The Roosevelt Room’s Rough Rider. The Rough Rider is made with Captain Morgan Caribbean White Rum, sugar, and lime. Like The Hound, this cocktail is rough around the edges, but underneath it all, there’s a hint of softness.

Qyburn – Doctor Satan, Low Spark

On the outside, Qyburn seems to be a quiet, harmless man. However, his unethical behavior of illegal human experimentation grants him the Doctor Satan cocktail at Low Spark. The cocktail, made with lavender-infused Tito’s Handmade Vodka, Cointreau, lemon, blueberry, rosemary, egg white, and plum bitters, is soft and calm on the exterior, but may give you the curiosity to think up medical breakthroughs.
